Men's tennis wins opener

By Doug Fitzgerald published September 13, 2004

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's tennis team opened its season Monday with a 6-3 victory over the Metro State Roadrunners at Memorial Park.

It was the first time the Mountain Lions had beaten Metro State in the past six tries, dating back to 2002.

After Metro State logged a win at No. 1 doubles, CU-Colorado Springs came back to take both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles for a 2-1 team lead going into singles play.

James Schumacher and Andre Nilsson earned wins for Metro State at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, but CU-Colorado Springs swept Nos. 3-6 as Jason Schultz, Travis Sellentin, Jason Bisanti and Ken Huston all earned wins.
