Close not enough for men's tennis

By Doug Fitzgerald published March 31, 2004

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's tennis team dropped its second straight one-game loss to a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Wednesday, a 5-4 defeat to the Colorado Mines Orediggers in Golden, Colo.

On March 12, the Mountain Lions dropped a 5-4 decision to defending RMAC champion Metro State.

Travis Sellentin and Ken Huston teamed to win their doubles match, then went on to take their respective singles matches. Eric Rivera and Jason Bisanti also teamed to win in doubles for CU-Colorado Springs.

The Mountain Lions had two chances to win a deciding fifth match. Sean Voorhies and Eric Rivera, playing out of the Nos. 1 and 2 singles respectively, each took their opponents to three games. Voorhies, however, was beaten 7-5 in the deciding third game and Rivera was topped 6-2.
