Payne Member of Runner-Up Team at Club National Championships

BEND, Ore. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs alumna Shannon Payne finished No. 44 overall and helped the Boulder Running Company to a runner-up team finish in the U.S. National Club Cross Country Championships over the weekend in at Rivers Edge Golf Course. Payne finished the six-kilometer course in 23 minutes and 11 seconds.

Payne finished No. 18 among the 53 runners in the 25-29 age group. She helped the BRC team to a second-place finish out of 34 teams as a displacer and a 23-point margin against the third-place team of HTS Elite, also out of Boulder, Colo.

Payne was a seven-time All-American for the Mountain Lions between cross country and track and field. She still holds the UCCS record for the indoor 5,000-meter run; is second for the outdoor 10,000-meter, 5,000-meter and 3,000-meter runs and indoor 3,000-meter run; and third for the indoor mile run.
