UCCS Finishes No. 20 at National Championships
SPOKANE, Wash. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team finished No. 20 today at the NCAA Division II National Championships at Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Wash. The Mountain Lions were one point shy of finishing No. 19.
Veronica Sandoval finished No. 55 with a time of 22 minutes, 7.3 seconds, three positions out of her national finish from a season ago. True freshman Lina Arista just finished just out of the top 100, in a field of 244 runners, with 22:38.4. Sam Bauer finished 11 seconds after Arista to place No. 124.
Alyssa Andrews finished close behind Bauer in 22:58.7 in her home state of Washington. Angie Martell finished out the scoring for the Mountain Lions with a time of 23:11.0.
The UCCS distance runners will be off through the rest of the semester and begin the indoor season at the Potts Invitational Jan. 18, in Boulder, Colo.
