#10 Mountain Lions Face Tough Competition at RMAC Championships

SILVER CITY, N.M. - The No. 10 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team will begin the championship portion of the schedule on Saturday when the Mountain Lions compete the 2013 RMAC Championships, hosted by Western New Mexico University. The six-kilometer race begins at 10 a.m., at the Silver City Golf Course.

UCCS is one of four teams in the conference ranked in the top 10 of the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Poll. Also among the nations elite teams are No. 1 Adams State, No. 2 Western State and No. 4 Colorado Mines.

Angie Martell finished No. 17 at the conference championships last season with a time of 23 minutes, 33.4 seconds. Her teammate Veronica Sandoval took No. 19 in 23:49.2, as both claimed All-RMAC honors.

The conference championships will be the final meet before the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championships, Nov. 9, in Canyon, Texas. The regional meet serves as the qualifying meet for the national championships later in November.
