Women's Cross Country Tied at No. 10 in National Polls
NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's team ranked tenth this week in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national polls released early this morning. The South Central Region claims four of the top 10 teams.
UCCS fell two spots after a strong finish at the Rust Buster at Monument Valley Park Sept. 7, while Indiana (Pa.) gained eight positions to finish tied for the No. 10 position. At the Rust Buster, Angie Martell led the team with 14 minutes and 57 seconds on the four-kilometer course.
The Mountain Lions were ranked fourth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Regional Polls released Tuesday.
The UCCS women's team will be competing at the Spokane Erik Anderson Invitational on Saturday in Spokane, Wash. UCCS will have the opportunity to preview the course prior to the national championships in November. The six-kilometer course will be the same course used for the national championships.
