UCCS Remains at Seventh in Regional Polls
NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's cross country team is ranked seventh in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Regional polls released early Tuesday morning. Unranked Texas A&M-Commerce and Dallas Baptist broke into the top 10 this week at ninth and No. 10, respectively. Six of the top 10 teams are from the RMAC.
The Mountain Lions finished sixth at the RMAC Championships this past weekend, Oct. 26, in Silver City, N.M. Nick Baca finished first for UCCS at No. 33 with a time of 26 minutes, 13.6 seconds. Matt Winfrey finished seconds behind Baca in 26:19.5 to place No. 36.
Mitch Klomp, Corey Brown, and Luke Dakin finished the scoring for the Mountain Lions on the eight-kilometer course.
UCCS will not be competing this weekend as it trains for the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championships, Nov. 9, in Canyon, Texas.
