Tam Earns RMAC Summit Award
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior cross country runner Ryder Tam was named the recipient of the RMAC Summit Award for the 2013 men's cross country season. Tam earned the award for having the highest cumulative grade point average among conference runners scheduled to compete in Saturday's conference championships.
Tam has a 3.949 in mechanical engineering and is a two-time member of the UCCS President's List with a 4.00 semester GPA. He was a member of the Mountain Lion outdoor track and field team that won the inaugural Brechler Award last spring with the highest team GPA in the RMAC.
Tam led UCCS at the Metro State Invitational earlier this month with a ninth-place overall finish in 27 minutes, two seconds. It was more than two minutes faster from his performance at the same event last season. He finished No. 10 on the team at the Colorado College Invitational on Sept. 21 and in the top 15 overall at the UCCS Rust Buster on Sept. 17.
Tam will receive his award at the RMAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Silver City, N.M. The men's race will begin at 10:45 a.m., at the Silver City Golf Course, with the awards ceremony to follow.
