NEW ORLEANS - After a strong performance in the Rust Buster, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's cross country team is ranked fifth in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Regional Polls released Tuesday.

The men's team had five runners finish in the top 10 at the Rust Buster. Bryce Gregoire finished fourth overall in 20:19, and was followed by Alex Nelson, Mitch Klomp, Nick Baca and Matt Winfrey. The five runners finished within 16 seconds of each other.

The Mountain Lions dropped one spot after New Mexico Highlands jumped from No. 10 to fourth. The top six teams in the regional championships will advance to the national championships in November in Spokane, Wash.

UCCS will compete this weekend at the Colorado College Invitational at Monument Valley Park. The eight-kilomer race starts at 9 a.m., on Saturday.
