UCCS Ranked No. 16 in National Polls

NEW ORLEANS  -The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team is ranked No. 16 this week in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Polls released early Wednesday morning. 

UCCS finished fifth at the 2013 NCAA Division II South Central Region Championships in Canyon, Texas, to qualify for the national championships. The Mountain Lions will be competing as a team at the national championships for the fifth time in program history.

The top three runners for the Mountain Lions finished within a span of ten seconds. Lina Arista led the Mountain Lions with a time of 22 minutes, 29 seconds to place No. 28 while Angie Martell and Alyssa Wendt finished at No, 33 and No. 39, respectively. Sam Bauer finished in a time of 22:55 and placed No. 46, and Alyssa Andrews finished at No. 49 in 22:57. 

UCCS will not be competing this weekend to prepare for the national championship at Plants Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Wash., on Nov. 23.
