Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at Metro State Invitational

DENVER, Colo.- Ryder Tam finished fifth among attached collegiate runners this morning in a time of 27 minutes, 2 seconds at the Metro State Invitational at Washington Park in Denver.  The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's cross country team finished second overall behind Metro State.

Tam paced the Mountain Lions on the eight-kilometer course and finished ninth overall among the 79 runners in the field. Matt Winfrey finished one second behind Tam and 11 seconds ahead of Luke Dakin, who placed No. 13 overall and third on the team. Nick Baca and Alex Nelson rounded out the scoring runners for UCCS, which all finished within ninth through No. 18 in the overall standings.

"It was a solid day," said Head Men's Cross Country Coach Mark Misch. "We took a more aggressive approach today to prepare for the bigger meets."

The Mountain Lions will be off the next two weekends before the RMAC Championships on Oct. 26, in Silver City, N.M.
