NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's cross country team remained at ninth for the second consecutive week in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national polls released early Wednesday morning. The Mountain Lions are one of four RMAC teams ranked among the nation's top 10 teams.

UCCS competed with three runners at last week's Metro State Invitational at Denver's Washington Park, with most of the top runners taking the weekend off after a title-winning performance at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 29. The Mountain Lions won the Maroon II race at the Griak behind the individual championship performance of Emilio Trujillo. UCCS has won its two scored meets of the season and Trujillo has won the individual title in all three races of the year.

The Mountain Lions will take the upcoming weekend off to prepare for the 2012 RMAC Championships at Monument Valley Park on Oct. 20. It will be the first time hosting the championships in UCCS history and it will mark the largest cross country championship in conference history after Chadron State added men's and women's cross country this season.
