COLORADO SPRING, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs Head Men's Cross Country Coach and Co-Head Track and Field Coach Mark Misch will begin the first year of a two-year term as the RMAC's representative on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Cross Country Executive Committee. Misch is beginning his sixth season with the Mountain Lion cross country and track and field programs.

"We're passionate about our job, and we want the sport to move forward," Misch said. "Our conference has great coaches who have served before, and it's an honor for me to step into this position."

Misch has led the Mountain Lions to a pair of national championship appearances. Last year's team was one of eight teams out of 260 Division II programs to compete at the national championships and earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award. UCCS finished No. 19 at the national championships in only its third appearance in program history.

Misch coached the women's cross country team from 2007 through 2011. He coached Shannon Payne to the Central Region title in 2008, a third-place finish at the national championships and a No. 16 place finish at the USATF National Cross Country Championships and United States Trials.

Misch established the Rust-Buster meet in 2008, which will run for the fifth time this Saturday, and the Colorado Springs Free City-Wide Cross Country Camp held in the summer. He was a member of the staff with Athletes in Action Track and Field and attended the World Cross Country Championships, the Commonwealth Games, the World Track and Field Championships and the Olympic Games.
