Men's Cross Country Claims Academic Honors

By Mark Misch published February 14, 2012

The UCCS Men's Cross Country team was named a 2011-2012 USTFCCCA All-Academic team for the fourth time in the past five seasons.

The USTFCCCA recognizes all teams with a cumulative grade point average of over 3.0 combined from all competing members of each squad. The UCCS men combined for a 3.11 GPA.

In fact the men's team was one of only eight NCAA Division II men's cross country teams out of over 260 nation-wide to qualify for the NCAA II National Championships AND be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic team.

Earlier last week team members Casey Weaver, Mike English and Michael Johnson were named to the All-USTFCCCA national academic eam based on their GPA and placing at the NCAA II Regional Championships. Weaver, English, Johnson and Ian Penn were also named to the All-RMAC cross country academic first and second teams this past fall with UCCS landing four of the possible 14 individual spots on the first and second team.
