UCCS Ranked 8th in the Cross-Country Pre-Season Polls
Both the Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs were selected 8th in the preseason poll for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The men's team received 70 points in the pre-season conference rankings and the women's team received 86 points. Both Mountain Lions teams were also selected 10th in the pre-season North-Central region rankings.
In 2009 the UCCS Men placed 8th at the RMAC Conference Championship and 10th at the North-Central regional. The UCCS Women placed 8th at the 2009 RMAC Championship and 16th at the North-Central region.
Adams State was selected as the unanimous favorite to win the 2010 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the North-Central region for both the men's and women's competitions. The Adams State men are also the heavy favorites to win the 2010 cross-country NCAA D-II National Championship.
The UCCS Mountain cross-country schedule begins in Saturday, September 11 with the Rust Buster Invitational at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. UCCS is the host team for the Rust Buster and the competition will include the Air Force Academy, University of Denver, Colorado State-Pueblo, Colorado College and Metro State, among some others. The Mountain Loins will also unveil some new stylish yellow uniforms.

Mike English placed 29 in the men’s race and was 22 seconds short of gaining an individual qualifying spot to the National Championship.|
|October 16, 2010||UCCS Chases Metro State||Out at Washington Park in Denver the skies were clear, blue and almost cloudless. The air had some crispness in it. The grass was long and wet with some remnants of the overnight frost in some shaded areas. It is all the making of classic cross-country conditions. It was also the makings of a great day for UCCS cross-country.|
|September 11, 2010||The Rust was Busted||It was beautiful Saturday at Monument Valley Park for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs to host the Rust Buster Open. The Rust Buster was a low-key early season preparation race with no team score kept. The full race plan for UCCS will come into action three weeks from now in Boulder.|
|September 7, 2010||Rust Buster Preview||A field of eight teams is set for the Third Annual Rust Buster Invitational on Saturday, September 11th. Joining the UCCS Mountain Lions will be runners from the Air Force Academy, University of Denver, Colorado College, Metro State, Colorado State-Pueblo, Johnson & Wales and Crown College out of Minnesota. All the teams will have entries in both the men’s and women’s races except for Colorado State-Pueblo, who will only enter a women’s team.|
