The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's and women's cross country squads were both named as all-academic teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association, the university announced Thursday.

The UCCS women were ranked 51st nationally with a 3.37 team GPA while the Mountain Lion men were 53rd with a 3.14 team GPA.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA all-academic team, the cumulative GPA of all athletes who competed in at least 50 percent of the team's meets must be at least 3.0 or better. Ninety-four women's teams and 67 men's teams out of the 274 in NCAA Division II qualified.

"(It's) not bad having both programs ranking in the top 20 percent in country," said UCCS coach Mark Misch in an email to his teams. "That's a direct reflection of your work in the classroom, very good work folks!"

Seattle Pacific was the national leader on the women's side with a 3.80 GPA. Limestone led all Division II men's teams with a 3.63 GPA.
