Gabe Small was elected captain for the 2007 men's cross country team and Jenna Dorsey-Spitz was elected captain for the 2007 women's cross country team.

Small, who is respected as a leader on the men's cross country team, has been a regular member of the UCCS cross country travel squad since arriving at the school in 2004. The senior's best finish was 13th at the 2005 Colorado College Invitational.

He graduated from Fairview High School where senior year he was also elected team captain of the cross country team. He helped lead Fairview to back-to-back state championships.

Dorsey-Spitz, an academic all-RMAC selection this past year, was second among UCCS runners at the 2006 Division II National Cross Country Championships with a 25th-place finish. She was also named all-RMAC.

In track, the senior finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Potts Invitational and first in the 800-meter run at the Colorado College Invitational.
