Men's cross country named all-academic
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs menâ€TMs cross country team was named an all-academic team, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Thursday.
The Mountain Lions were one of 57 Division II menâ€TMs cross country programs to have at least a 3.0 team GPA during the 2006 season. For schools to qualify as an all-academic team, the student-athletes on their NCAA eligibility list must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 of higher.
UCCSâ€TM cumulative GPA was 3.094.
The combination of a third-place finish at the 2006 NCAA Division II Menâ€TMs Cross Country Championships and cumulative team grade-point average of 3.347 earned Western State College designation as the Division II All-Academic Menâ€TMs Cross Country Team of the Year.
Of the 57 schools named being honored as All-Academic Teams for Division II menâ€TMs cross country, Concordia University (St. Paul) had the highest cumulative GPA at 3.560. Christian Brothers University (Memphis, Tenn.) had a 3.540 grade-point average.
