Shannon Payne extended her record Wednesday.
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs cross country All-American won her school-record sixth Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference runner of the week award. It was also her third such award this season.
For the second time this season, Payne finished first at a meet. She ran the Colorado College Invitational 6K race in 22 minutes, 14 seconds, finishing first out of 77 runners and leading the Mountain Lions to a first-place team finish out of nine teams.
Payne distanced her nearest competition, which were three of her teammates, by 41 seconds. She led by so much that the lead riders had to split, with one leading Payne and the other leading everybody else.
