Payne Leades UCCS Past Division I Schools

Shannon Payne took first place individually to lead the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs women's cross country team past three Division I schools and into second place at the Wyoming Invitational in Laramie, Wyo.
The Mountain Lions defeated Division I Air Force, Wyoming and Northern Colorado. Colorado State won the team competition as Rams runners finished second, third, fifth, sixth and seventh.
Payne covered the course at Jacoby Golf Course in 14 Minutes, 51.30 seconds, over ten seconds faster than CSU's Kirsten Anthony, who took second.
UCCS' Sarah Shepard finished eighth with a time of 15:26.30. Megan Lund (15:35.60) took 11th, Ashley Birger (15:54.00) was 14th and freshman Addie Devine (15:54.30) took 15th.
