Cross Country Chosen Third in Preseason Poll
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's and women's cross country teams were both chosen to finish third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference according to the preseason coaches' poll which was released on Monday.
Perennial powerhouses Western State and Adams State occupied the top two spots in both polls, with Western State atop the men's poll and Adams State in the top position on the women's poll. Both teams are defending national champions.
UCCS, which finished third at the RMAC cross country championships on both the men's and women's sides in 2004, narrowly edged Colorado Mines for the third spot in the preseason polls.
The Mountain Lions men's team finished eighth nationally while the women took 12th. They were the only two UCCS teams to end the 2004-05 athletic season ranked in the Top 20.
