DENVER, Colo. - Abby Kirchoff led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in scoring for the fourth straight game with her third 20-point game of the season, but the Mountain Lions (1-3) closed out the nonconference season in a 87-68 loss to No. 24 Minnesota State tonight in the Auraria Events Center.

Kellie Krueger led the UCCS rebounding effort for the first time this season with 10 boards. The Mountain Lions outrebounded the Mavericks 46-to-44 tonight, and have outrebounded their opponents in three of the four games this season.

UCCS held a one-point lead three minutes into the game against the top scoring team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, before the Mavericks went on a 15-0 run in the next three minutes. The Mountain Lions answered back with an 11-2 run that made it at five-point game, 22-17, just after the under-10 media timeout, but the Mavericks regained their double-digit lead with their own run and held it for the rest of the half.

The Mountain Lions shot 47 percent from the field in the second half, led by a five-of-seven performance from Kirchoff for 15 points. Gabby Ramirez added nine points in the final 20 minutes.

Krueger finished the game with 10 points for her third straight game with 10 or more points. Along with her 10 rebounds, it was her first double-double performance of the season and the second of her carer. UCCS shot 80 percent at the free throw line as a team, the best single-game performance this season and the fifth time in the last nine games since Feb. 22, 2013.

Up Next: The Mountain Lions will be off for the Thanksgiving break to prepare for the start of the RMAC season on Dec. 6 at Fort Lewis. Tip-off from Whalen Gymnasium will be at 5:30 p.m.
