ATLANTA - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team, the preseason favorite in the RMAC, is receiving votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association / USA Today Division II Preseason Poll. The Mountain Lions are one of six conference teams either ranked or receiving votes in the national poll.

UCCS received 17 votes from the panel of 33 Division II head coaches. It's the most the Mountain Lions have received in the national poll, after receiving national recognition for the first time in program history last season in the Feb. 12, 2013, poll.

UCCS finished last season with a 19-8 overall record and 16-6 in the RMAC for third in the regular season standings. The Mountain Lions hosted their second postseason game in program history last March and led the conference in free throw percentage, three-point percentage, assists and defensive rebounds.

The Mountain Lions open the 2013-14 exhibition season on Nov. 8, at Colorado State. UCCS begins the regular season and home season on Nov. 15 against Bemidji State.
