Kirchoff Leads UCCS Offense in the Final Regular Season Home Game
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (18-6 / 15-5 RMAC) took a tough home loss at the hands of Black Hills State University (11-14 / 10-11 RMAC) 54-62 at the Gallogly Events Center.
Lauren Wolfinger, the lone senior on this Mountain Lion squad, fittingly had the most points at the break with 10 on senior night.
The first-half saw both teams play to a near draw early on with UCCS up 24-23 at halftime.
The second-half was a different story for the Mountain Lions as they struggled to maintain a consistent attack on offense and committed costly turnovers throughout most of the second-half.
UCCS hit a flurry of 3-pointers, courtesy of Abby Kirchoff and Wolfinger, to hang in the contest in the last minute and make things interesting but it was too little too late for UCCS.
Kirchoff and Gabby Ramirez chipped in 17 and 10 points respectively to be among the leading scorers on the night.
While the loss leaves UCCS with a split on the weekend, they still remain in good position to receive a home game for the end of season RMAC tournament. The Mountain Lions are currently tied for second with Fort Lewis and Metro State.
