UCCS Women Roll Past Chadron in 18th Win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (18-5 / 15-4 RMAC) efficiently took care of Chadron State (5-19 / 5-15 RMAC) on "Green Night" 90-53 at the Gallogly Events Center.

On a night touted for its sustainability and efficiency no one was more efficient than Gabby Ramirez.

Ramirez was in the "Green Night" spirit early with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in the first-half, on her way to a career-high 24 points. She finished the night with seven rebounds and five assists while only committing one turnover - again proving her ability to not let a possession go to waste in her effort to keep UCCS "green."

When you add in the fact that she went 6-for-7 from behind the arc while going 8-for-11 from the field overall, UCCS students everywhere can look to Ramirez for an excellent example of sustainability.

UCCS jumped out to an early 15-2 lead behind a stout defense that held the Eagles to only 23.1 percent shooting from the field in the first-half.

Leading by as many as 39 points in the second-half, the Mountain Lions saw 11 different players find their way onto the scoreboard. Tori Fisher made the most of her added playing time with a double-double in only 18 minutes of action - 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The second-half was more of the same as the Mountain Lions bench won the second period 42-31 making up the final score of 90-53. The 90 points was a season-high at home.

Other notables point totals for UCCS were Abby Kirchoff (13), Kellie Kruger (10), Shannon Kelly (9) and Lauren Wolfinger (8).

Wolfinger put on a clinic on the defensive end with five steals.

Up Next: The UCCS Mountain lions will host their final regulars season home game tomorrow night as they pplay Black Hills State ( 10-14 / 9-11 RMAC). Black Hills State defeated CSU-Pueblo tonight 50-46, but lost to the UCCS 66-52 in their previous meeting on January 25.
