NLI Signee TreShawn Wilford Leads Team to CHSAA 5A Title

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - University of Colorado Colorado Springs National Letter of Intent signee TreShawn Wilford earned the Most Valuable Player honors and led Eaglecrest High School to the CHSAA 5A boys basketball state championship on Saturday night at the Coors Event Center at the University of Colorado Boulder campus. Wilford scored 21 points in the championship game in a 63-44 victory against Denver East High School.

"We knew we could do this," Wilford said to the Denver Post after the game. "We believed in ourselves."

Wilford finished with nine rebounds and three steals. He closes his senior season with 375 points, 141 rebounds, 96 steals and 14 blocked shots.

Wilford was an All-Centennial League First Team selection and Denver Post Honorable Mention All-State student-athlete as a junior. Postseason awards for the 2012-13 season will be released during the week.

UCCS returns four of its five starters from last season, including RMAC Freshman of the Year Derrick White. The Mountain Lions will open the 2013-14 season at home Nov. 12 against Johnson & Wales.
