DENVER, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team lead second-ranked Metro State by as many as seven points in the first half, but the Roadrunners (24-2 / 20-2 RMAC) used a strong second half in a 98-80 decision tonight against the Mountain Lions (5-21 / 5-17 RMAC) at the Auraria Events Center in downtown Denver.

Freshman Derrick White set the UCCS program record for free throws made in a season tonight with an 11-of-11 performance. He finishes with 164 free throws this season to break to record set by Academic All-America Patrick Hannaway in the 2005-06 season. White also scored a team-high 21 points and finished the regular season as the top scoring freshman in the RMAC.

The Mountain Lions shot 56 percent from the field in the first half and led the Roadrunners 34-27 with 8:51 left in the first half. Jordan Carter scored 10 points by halftime as UCCS led 48-47. Carter lead four Mountain Lions who scored nine or more points in the half.

A 7-2 UCCS run near the beginning of the second half built a four-point lead for UCCS at 55-51, and Neiman Lee kept it a four-point lead with a layup with 16:12 left. Metro State nearly doubled up the Mountain Lions in the rest of the game in scoring en route to the 98-80 final score.

UCCS went 30-of-59 from the field and finished with at least 50 percent from the field for the fourth straight game. It was the third-best field goal percentage against Metro State this season and the second-best among conference teams.

White finished with his eighth 20-point game of the season and his eighth straight 15-point performance. Carter and Darius Pardner both added 12 points while Neiman led finished with 10 points. Lee led a balanced rebounding effort with four rebounds.
