Vote for the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group Athlete of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs fans can provide their voice for the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group UCCS Athlete of the Week. Voting will take place each week when the Mountain Lions are in action, and will take place throughout the UCCS Athletics social media platforms.
Voting for this week will end at noon on Feb. 19, with the announcement to follow at 3 p.m. Fans can vote online through GoMountainLions.com, on Facebook at facebook.com/GoMountainLions, on Twitter at @GoMountainLions, and on Instagram at GoMountainLions.
Fans will select the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group Athlete of the Week between Derrick White of men's basketball, Abby Kirchoff of women's basketball, Carson Aberle of men's track and field and Alexa Urban of women's track and field:
- Derrick White scored 33 points against Fort Lewis, including the game-winning shot, and moved into No. 10 in UCCS career scoring records in the game. He is leading the RMAC with 21.1 points per game this season.
- Abby Kirchoff improved to third in UCCS career scoring records and has scored at least 10 points in the last 28 games. She scored 10 points and brought down eight rebounds in a win against Fort Lewis on Saturday night.
- Carson Aberle improved on his provisional qualifying time in the 800-meter run again this season after he won the event at the Adams State Qualifier. He is fifth in the RMAC, seventh in the region and No. 16 in NCAA Division II in the event.
- Alexa Urban finished second in the 800-meter run and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that improved on its time and finished second at the Adams State Qualifier. She is fifth in the RMAC and eighth in the region in the 800-meter run from the previous weekend.
