UCCS Will Play 4Kay Friday Night
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball will host their 2014 "Play 4Kay" breast cancer awareness event this Friday when the Mountain Lions host Adams State in the Gallogly Events Center. The game will start at 5:30 p.m., and parking is free on campus in any lot starting at 4 p.m.
The Mountain Lions will use the national awareness generated by the joint partnership from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and The V Foundation to focus energy into the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The UCCS Relay organization will be available at the game to encourage registrations and donations ahead of the campus Relay of Life night on April 4.
UCCS will wear pink shirts during their warm-ups and on the bench to bring recognition to the fight against cancer. Videos from both the Kay Yow Foundation and Relay for Life will play during timeouts and halftimes to support the fight against cancer.
The nationwide "Play 4Kay" events are named after former North Carolina State Head Women's Basketball Coach Kay Yow, who survived two bouts with breast cancer but passed away in January 2009 when the disease returned for a third time.
