Mountain Lions Look to Rebound Against Cougars
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After a one-point loss last night against Colorado Mines, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (5-9 / 4-6 RMAC) will look to rebound tonight against Colorado Christian (6-8 / 4-6 RMAC) at 5:30 p.m., in the Gallogly Events Center.
Abby Kirchoff recorded her 20th 20-point game last night with a game-high 24 points, and can move into the top five of UCCS career scoring records tonight. She has 1,083 points, and will need three points to tie for fifth in program records. Kirchoff is also starting to move into position to reach the top five records for points in a junior season (30 points away) and top 10 records for points in a season (71 points).
The Mountain Lions have won the last four games in the series with Colorado Christian, and hold a 13-6 lead in the series when playing at home. A win tonight would extend that winning streak against the Cougars and move UCCS Head Coach Corey Laster into second in program career coaching wins. His 51 wins is one shy of Dave Murphy's total from the 1998-99 through 2001-02 seasons.
Jessica Kienitz has continued to make her presence on defense known, after a team-high eight rebounds last night against the Orediggers. In the 2014 calendar year, she's averaging one blocked shot a game and five rebounds per game. Her rebounding average is 1.2 rebounds above her average from the 10 games of 2013.
Live stats will be available for tonight's game at GoMountainLions.com. M.J. Arjomandi will provide the play-by-play action on a free audio stream through YouTube, and for the pay-per-view video streaming on America One Sports.
