Five Mountain Lions Earn Spot on RMAC Honor Roll
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team placed five student-athletes on the honor roll in the 2013-14 RMAC All-Academic Awards announced this afternoon. The Mountain Lions had the third-most honorees on the academic teams.
Taylor Garcia, Brooke Baker, Gabby Ramirez, Hannah Kingsbury and Kellie Krueger were each named to the Honor Roll. To qualify, student-athletes needed a 3.30 grade point average in at least two semesters of attendance at UCCS.
Garcia led the Mountain Lions with a 3.88 GPA in international business. She was a member of the UCCS Dean's List in fall 2012 and spring 2013, and has played in 10 games this season. Garcia started against Metro State on Dec. 13.
Baker has a 3.64 GPA in health science and has played in nine games as a reserve player. She recorded season highs in points and rebounds in a win against Adams State on Dec. 7.
Ramirez was a UCCS President's List Student-Athlete in her first semester in fall 2012 and has a 3.50 GPA in criminal justice. She is second on the team in assists and steals, and is averaging 6.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Kingsbury has a 3.48 GPA in health science and made one appearance against Adams State. She is making her second straight appearance on the RMAC Academic Honor Roll.
Krueger has a 3.40 GPA in business and is third for the Mountain Lions with 7.9 points per game in seven games and four starts. She scored 10 or more points in three straight games before an injury sidelined her during the conference season until the beginning of the 2014 calendar year.
The RMAC recognized 47 women's basketball student-athletes on the First Team and Honor Roll. The five First Team student-athletes were selected by the Sports Information Directors at each team in the conference.
