White Earns Second Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group Player of the Week Award
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With 60 percent of the votes cast by fans, University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore guard Derrick White is the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group Athlete of the week for the Jan. 6-12 week. He led the Mountain Lions to a 1-1 weekend on the road with a win at Western State and a one-point loss at the buzzer to Colorado Mesa.
White averaged 24 points in the two games, and scored 26 points against the Mavericks on Friday night. He's scored at least 20 points and shot at least 50 percent from the field in the last three games. White made a season-high three steals against the Mountaineers on Thursday night.
White ranks in the top 10 of the conference in assists, blocked shots, scoring, assist-to-turnover ratio and field goal percentage. The Mountain Lions will defend a 4-0 home record this weekend against Colorado Mines and Colorado Christian.
