GUNNISON, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team continued its offensive consistency with 56 percent from the field en route to a 91-66 win against Western State tonight in Paul Wright Gym. The win moves the Mountain Lions to 9-3 for the first time in program history.

Derrick White led both teams with 22 points and was one of four Mountain Lions to finish in double figures. Darius Pardner led the bench with 14 points, while Dalton Patten scored 12 and Alex Welsh added 11 points.

UCCS used a seven-point ally over a three-minute span late in the first half to tie the game at 22-22. The Mountaineers went back up by four points with 2:36 left in the period, but the Mountain Lions scored seven of the final 11 points in the half to take a 33-32 lead into the break.

The game remained close in the opening minutes of the second half, but UCCS kept the lead and started to take control with a 15-4 run to lead 57-47 with 10:51 to play. UCCS kept it a double-digit lead in the final nine minutes and a 20-point lead in the final five minutes. It was the third straight win against the Mountaineers in the series and the third win for the Mountain Lions in Gunnison.

The win extended the UCCS winning streak to five games to match the second-longest win streak in program history. The Mountain Lions have shot 50 percent or better from the field in each of those games and have scored at least 90 points in four of those games.

White went eight-of-11 from the free throw line and six-of-10 from the field for his second straight 20-point performance and fourth of the season. Pardner went two-of-three from the three-point line, three-of-four overall, and six-of-seven from the charity stripe for his 14 points.

Patten went five-of-six from the field and added two free throws for his 12 points, and Welsh matched White's six rebounds and added 11 points. The Mountain Lions had 14 student-athletes score during tonight's game.

Up Next: UCCS will look to match the longest win streak in program history tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m., against Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction. The Mavericks (7-6 / 5-4 RMAC) lost to Colorado State-Pueblo tonight 84-67.
