Mountain Lions Take 72-54 Road Win at Adams State
ALAMOSA, Colo. - After giving up the first eight points of the game, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs went on a 10-4 run and never looked back in an 72-54 victory at Adams State tonight at Plachy Hall. It was the first win of the conference season for the Mountain Lions and it snapped a three-game losing skid.
Abby Kirchoff matched her season-high with 28 points, and became the ninth student-athlete in program history with 900 career points. She has 905 points in just more than two seasons and needs 36 points to tie for ninth in program records. Gabby Ramirez also added a season-high 10 points, with eight of those points coming in the first half.
The Mountain Lions finished with season highs in field goal percentage (53.3%), three-point percentage (46.7%), three-pointers made (7), first half scoring (42 points), field goal defense (38.3%) and three-point defense (30.0%). It was the largest road win since another 18-point win against Adams State in Alamosa on Feb. 15, 2013.
Sam Patterson led the rebounding effort for the second straight night and the third time this season with six rebounds.
Up Next: UCCS will remain on the road next weekend in the Denver area for games at Metro State and Regis. The Mountain Lions play Metro on Dec. 13, at 5 p.m., in the Auraria Events Center in downtown Denver.
