UCCS Going for Fourth Straight Adams State Win Tonight
ALAMOSA, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team will look to go for its fourth straight win in the series against Adams State when the teams meet tonight in a 6 p.m., game at Plachy Hall in Alamosa, Colo.
The Mountain Lions (1-4 / 0-1 RMAC) haven't lost to the Grizzlies (4-1 / 0-1 RMAC) since early in the 2011-12 season. A win for UCCS would also snap a three-game skid for the Mountain Lions.
If Abby Kirchoff scores her season average of 24 points tonight, she'll become the 10th student-athlete in program history with 900 career points. She moved into No. 10 UCCS career records last night with 27 points, one point off of her season-high of 28 points against Nebraska-Kearney two weeks ago.
Sam Patterson finished last night against Fort Lewis with a season-high 10 rebounds and helped the Mountain Lions outrebound its fourth opponent of the season. UCCS is third in the RMAC with 29 defensive rebounds per game and fifth with an average rebounding margin of +5.
The Mountain Lions improved on their ball control last night with their second-lowest number of turnovers this season. Last night was also the second time this season that UCCS finished with fewer turnovers than their opponents, which was helped by a season-high eight steals.
Adams State enters tonight's game on a two-game losing streak, including last night's 77-44 loss to Colorado State-Pueblo. Rebecca Alvidrez, a 2006 graduate of Adams State, is in her first season with the Grizzlies.
Fans can follow tonight's game through live stats for free, or watch the game through America One Sports through a variety of viewing packages. The game will also be shown for free in Clyde's, located on the lower level of the University Center on the UCCS campus.
