Mountain Lions Look to Bounce Back Against California Baptist
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (0-1) will look to rebound after a tough loss on Friday night when the Mountain Lions take on California Baptist (2-0) at 5:30 p.m., on Saturday night. The game will be the final home game for UCCS for more than a month's span.
Abby Kirchoff recorded her second career double-double last night and led the Mountain Lions with 25 points and a career-high 12 rebounds against Bemidji State. It was her second straight double, dating back to last season's RMAC quarterfinal game, and the 25 points tied for her second-best performance in her career.
The Mountain Lions out-rebounded Bemidji State by nine rebounds, and has averaged a rebounding advantage of +6.75 in the last four home games. The 49 rebounds for UCCS were the most in a home game since 49 rebounds against Western New Mexico on Dec. 17, 2011.
California Baptist pulled away in the second half from Western State in yesterday's opening game of the UCCS Classic. Elise Shelton, a 6-foot-2-inch center, led the Lancers off the bench with 13 points and nine rebounds and took advantage of a mismatch underneath the basket against the Mountaineers throughout the game.
The game will be carried live on Comcast Channel 20 in Colorado Springs with Josh Howe and John Estick with the call. The broadcast will be streamed over America One Sports, and free live stats will be available at GoMountainLions.com.
