Mountain Lions Back in Denver to Face Regis
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With wins on Saturday nights against Oklahoma Panhandle State, Northwest Nazarene and Adams State, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team (4-3 / 1-2 RMAC) will play to keep an undefeated Saturday record at 5 p.m., against Regis (3-4 / 0-2 RMAC).
A win would push the Mountain Lion conference record up to 2-2, its best RMAC start since the last tournament appearance in 2009-10. A win would also match last season's overall win total and be the best overall start since the 2007-08 season.
UCCS is leading the RMAC with 41.4 rebounds per game and is second with an average rebounding margin of +6.1. the Mountain Lions outrebounded their opponents by at least 10 boards in the first four games, and have held an advantage in defensive rebounds in five of the seven games this season. Derrick White and Alex Welsh both rank in the top 15 in the RMAC for rebounds per game, and UCCS is one of four conference teams with two rebounders in the top 15.
Regis is coming into tonight's game looking to snap a three-game losing streak since Nov. 23, and pick up its first win against a Division II team since Nov. 15. Jarrett Green and Kevin Marshall lead the Rangers with 13.6 and 12.3 points, respectively. Head Coach Lonnie Porter is in his 37th season at Regis.
