Welsh Named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore forward Alex Welsh earned RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors today from the conference office. He played in Saturday's 87-71 victory against Oklahoma Panhandle State as the Mountain Lions improved to 2-0.
Welsh scored 19 points for the second-highest offensive night in his career. He went seven-of-12 from the field and finished with a field goal percentage above .500 for the fourth time in his last five games. Welsh finished one rebound short of his fourth career double-double.
UCCS is 2-0 for the first time since the start of the 2006-07 season, and will look to improve on its record at the Northwest Nazarene Classic this weekend. The Mountain Lions take on the College of Idaho on Friday and the host Crusaders on Saturday.
