Men Finish Exhibition Season Tonight at CSU
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team (0-1 exhibition) will play in its final tune-up game for the 2013-14 season when it takes on Colorado State (2-0 exhibition) tonight at 5:30 p.m., in Moby Arena.
The game will be counted as an exhibition game for the Mountain Lions, while tonight will serve as the regular season-opener for the Rams. Because UCCS has the maximum number of contests for NCAA Bylaws, the game is counted as one of three exemptions allowed by Division II Bylaw 22.214.171.124.
Tonight will be the sixth game between teams from the RMAC and Mountain West Conference. The average margin of victory in those games has 7.2 points for the Mountain West, but all but one of those games were decided by five points or less, including a four-point game between UCCS and Wyoming. Colorado State won by one point against Regis last Saturday.
The four-point game last Thursday night was the closest for the Mountain Lions against a Division I team since an overtime game with Idaho State in the 2009-10 season. UCCS cut the lead against Wyoming down to two points with less than seven seconds remaining, but two free throws on the following possession led to the 85-81 decision. Derrick White, an All-RMAC Preseason pick, scored 25 points in that game.
Free live audio and video will be available from tonight's game through the links at GoMountainLions.com. M.J. Arjomandi will carry the call for UCCS fans.
