Kirchoff Leads UCCS Against Metro State in Regular Season Finale

DENVER, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team (19-7 / 16-6 RMAC) falls to Metro State (19-8 / 17-5) 47-65 tonight inside the Auraria Events Center.

The Mountain Lions got off to a slow start tonight as they fell behind 8-21 midway through the first half. UCCS began to make a run towards the end of the first half, but Metro closed strong to retain a 31-22 lead.

Wolfinger hit a three as time expired to bring it back to a single digit deficit, and give the Mountain Lions some momentum as they headed into the locker room.  Wolfinger cooled off a bit in the second half as she finished with 10 points.

Jessika Kienitz had a solid first half six points on three-of-four from the field, along with three rebounds.

Abby Kirchoff only had two points in the first half, but came out strong in the second half as she finished with a team-high 15 points.

The Mountain Lions tried to mount a comeback, but Roadrunners shot the ball well all game long.  Every UCCS run was answered with a Metro State run, as Metro went on to win by 18 points.

Despite the loss tonight, UCCS still finishes the regular season with the best record in program history. They tied the 2001-2002 team for the most wins in program history, but this year's team finished with two fewer losses.

Up Next: The UCCS will be back in action this Tuesday for the first round of the 2013 RMAC Shootout. The Mountain Lions will host just their second home playoff game in program history.
