Fisher's Double-Double Leads UCCS to Victory Against Rangers
DENVER, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team (19-6 / 16-5 RMAC) defeats the Regis Rangers (10-15 / 9-12 RMAC) tonight 72-66. The win for UCCS secures its best record in program history and will allow the Mountain Lions to host a quarterfinal game in the 2013 RMAC shootout this Tuesday at the Gallogly Events Center. It will be just the second home playoff game in program history.
The Mountain Lions shot 45 percent from the field and went six-of-16 from three-point range. UCCS also outscored the Rangers 12-0 in second chance points and points off the bench.
Leading the way for the Mountain Lions in the first half was the lone senior, Lauren Wolfinger, who had a team-high 12 point in just 14 minutes on the court. She shot 57 percent and went two-of-four from three-point range in the half.
Tori Fisher had a stellar second half as she recorded 4 point and 3 rebounds in the first half, but finished the game with her second double-double of the season as she scored career-highs and game-highs of 18 points 13 rebounds.
The leading scorer on the season for UCCS also had a great second half as she put in 11 of her 17 points in the half. Kirchoff shot 46 percent in the game and went three-of-five from long range.
Gabby Ramirez finished 14 points going four-of-eight from downtown and added five rebounds with four assists.
UCCS shot 43 percent from the field tonight, and outrebounded Regis 39-34.
Up Next: UCCS will take on Metro State (18-8 /16-5 RMAC) tomorrow night in the final game of the regular season. Metro State defeated CSU-P tonight 42-32 to remain in a three-way tie for second place in the RMAC with UCCS and Fort Lewis.
