Mountain Lions Play for a Home Playoff Game this Weekend in Denver

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team (18-6 / 15-5 RMAC) will travel to Denver, Colorado, as Regis (10-14 / 9-11 RMAC) and Metro State (17-8 / 15-5 RMAC) will play host to the Mountain Lions to conclude the 2013 regular season.

UCCS has their best record in program history with an overall record of 18-6. The Mountain Lions are on pace to break their best record of all-time which was set in 2001-2002. That season, the team finished 19-9.

There is currently in a three way tie for second place in the RMAC standings, and the Mountain Lions have the opportunity to host their first home playoff game since 2001-02, and just the second in program history. Check Gomountainlions.com for the complete bracketology.

UCCS has won the previous two meeting against the Rangers, including a 68-54 win on December 8 of this season, while the Roadrunners have won the previous 12 games against the Mountain Lions, dating back to Dec. 17, 2005.

The Mountain Lions are first in the RMAC defensive rebounds (28.1), second in assists per game (16.7), which is 15th in the nation, second in the RMAC for field goal percent (44), which is 14th in the nation, second in the RMAC for free throw percent (75.6) which also ranks 17th in the nation.

Senior Lauren Wolfinger has cracked the top 10 for a few statistical categories at UCCS. She ranks fifth  or assists (210), seventh for steals (159), seventh for 3-pointers made (121), eighth for field goals (329)  and ninth for total points (931) all-time in program history.

The final weekend of the regular season will begin for UCCS on Friday night against Regis, and will conclude on Saturday night against Metro State. Both games will tip-off at 5:00 p.m.  Fans can watch both games on America One Network.

The Mountain Lions will be back in action this upcoming Tuesday for the first round of the 2013 RMAC shootout. Pending the results from this weekend, UCCS would host that game on March 5, at the Gallogly Events Center, with a tip-off time of 7:00 p.m.
