UCCS Looks to Extend Best Winning Streak in Program History Tonight

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team (17-4 / 14-3 RMAC) looks to extend their best winning streak in program history tonight as they travel to Durango, Colo. The Mountain Lions will face the Skyhawks (13-8 / 12-5 RMAC) for the second time this season. UCCS beat Fort Lewis 70-65 on Nov. 30 of this season.

Both teams are in the top five in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and are separated by on spot. UCCS is currently third, while Fort Lewis moved into a tie with CSU-P for fourth. The top four teams will host a quarterfinal game in the 2013 RMAC Shootout.

The Skyhawks have a well balanced offensive attack as all five starters average double figures in scoring. Leading the way is Ashley Kuchar, who averages 12 point per game and shoots over 90 percent from the free throw line. UCCS is led on offense by Abby Kirchoff, who is averaging 13.7 points per game and over 40 percent from three-point range. 

The Mountain Lions are first in the RMAC in assists per game (17), defensive rebounds (28), three-point percent (37.3), which ranks 9th in the nation and field goal percent (44.5), which also ranks 6th in the nation. The long rang attack is led by Jeri Pikul (46) and Gabby Ramirez (42) who rank third and fifth best in the RMAC respectively for 3-point percent.
