Mountain Lions Wrap Up Their Four-Game Road Trip Tonight Against the Eagles
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team (12-4 / 9-3 RMAC) looks to continue their historic run tonight as they travel to Nebraska to take on the Chadron State Eagles (3-9 / 3-13 RMAC).
Chadron State leads the all-time series against UCCS 12-10, but the Mountain Lions won in 71-70 in their previous meeting on Feb. 17, 2012.
UCCS enters the game first in the RMAC in three-point percent (37.5), assists per game (16.8) and field goal percent (44.8), which also ranks 10th in the nation. The Mountain Lions are also first in the RMAC in defensive rebounds per game (28.2), followed by Chadron State who is second in the RMAC (27.5).
The Eagles are led by Kattie Ranta who is second in the RMAC in defensive rebounds per game (6.6) and fourth in overall rebounds per game (8.8).
UCCS is led on offense by Abby Kirchoff and Jeri Pikul, who are each averaging double digits in scoring while also ranking in the top five for three-point percent.
Kirchoff is averaging 13.9 points per game, shooting 43.5 percent from long range, which ranks fifth best in the RMAC. Pikul is averaging 10.2 points per game, shooting 47.2 percent from downtown, 2nd best in the RMAC.
