Kirchoff Earns RMAC Offensive Player of Week Award
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Abby Kirchoff, a sophomore guard for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, averaged 17 points and six rebounds last weekend and earned RMAC/Baden Offensive Player of the Week honors this morning. It's the second player of the week honor for Kirchoff this season and the first offensive award.
Kirchoff scored a game-high 20 points against Western State last Friday night to lead the Mountain Lions to a 73-55 victory against the Mountaineers. She went eight-of-12 from the field and a perfect four-of-four at the free thow line along with four assists and four steals. She followed her performance with 14 points against No. 8 Colorado Mesa and grabbed five defensive rebounds against the Mavericks. She added another four assists.
Kirchoff is fourth in the RMAC with 48 percent from the three-point line, and is second in conference-only games with 50 percent. She's also sixth in both free throw and field goal percentage and fifth with 29 steals this season. Kirchoff was the conference defensive player of the week after the first weekend of the RMAC schedule and is the only student-athlete in the conference to earn the athlete of the week award in both offensive and defensive categories.
The Mountain Lions will be on the road for the first time in more than a month with a Friday night game at Colorado Mines and Saturday night game at Colorado Christian.
