White Named to Division II Bulletin All-Freshman Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs guard Derrick White, the RMAC Freshman of the Year, earned a spot on the Division II Bulletin All-Freshman Team announced this morning. He was the only student-athlete from the South Central Region on the 10-person national team.
White led the RMAC freshmen with 16.9 points per game and set the UCCS record with 164 free throws this season. He finished the season with eight 20-point games and scored 15 points in the last eight games of the season.
White was fourth overall in the RMAC in scoring, second in free throws per game and ninth in blocked shots. He started all 26 games for the Mountain Lions last season and averaged a team-high 29.5 minutes per game.
UCCS will add more high school talent next season with National Letter of Intent signee TreShawn Wilford, the Colorado 5A tournament Most Valuable Player. Wilford led Eaglecrest High School to the state championship in March and was named the 9NEWS Player of the Year.
The Division II Bulletin publishes 14 issues throughout the year and includes regional reports, coaching profiles and preseason and postseason awards for Division II men's and women's basketball teams. The publication has named All-America teams since 1991.
