UCCS Closes Out 2012-13 Season Tonight

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After the seventh game decided by three points of less last night, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (5-20 / 5-16 RMAC) men's basketball team will take on RMAC regular season champion Metro State (23-2 / 19-2 RMAC) tonight at 7 p.m. at the Auraria Events Center in downtown Denver.

Both teams are coming off of one-point losses last night. UCCS fell to Regis 80-79 in the final minute, and Metro State lost to Colorado State-Pueblo 70-69 in the final three seconds. The Roadrunners are ranked second in the latest NABC Division II national poll and first in the NCAA South Central Regional ranking.

Derrick White needs three free throws tonight to tie, and four to break, the UCCS season record for free throws made in a season. He went six-of-eight from the line last night, and his 6.5 made free throws per game ranks second in the conference. White improved to fourth in the conference scoring statistics after last night and is the top-scoring freshman in the RMAC.

UCCS has shot 50 percent or better from the field in the last three games and better than 40 percent from the three-point line in three of the last four games.  The Mountain Lions maintain the best rebounding team in the conference with 39.1 rebounds per conference game.
