Mountain Lion Men storm back to overtake Chadron

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (5-18 / 5-14 RMAC) won the second-half 45-30 against Chadron State (3-21 / 3-17 RMAC) en route to a 69-62 victory at the Gallogly Events Center.

UCCS entered the second-half down 24-32. As the second-half got underway Chadron began to lose steam. The Eagles shooting cooled off, they stopped rebounding and Alex Welsh and Derrick White took over.

UCCS took its first lead of the second-half when Kyle Clark connected for two-points off a Darius Pardner pass with 13:23 to play. Back and forth lead changes dominated the next several minutes before UCCS finally took the lead for good at the 6:36 mark of the second-half via an Alex Welsh layup to go up 53-52.

The freshman duo of Welsh and White led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 19 and 17 points respectively.

Winning the second-half was easier for UCCS when you consider they went 17-for-23 in the later half for a scorching 73.9 percent shooting from the floor.

Effective minutes from Joell Crawford - eight points, four rebounds - and Nolan Baker - nine points, six rebounds - solidified the paint on both ends of the floor for UCCS on their way to a 44-30 advantage on points in the paint.
