COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team (4-17 / 4-13 RMAC) will take on the second nationally-recognized team in as many nights when the Mountain Lions face No. 22 Fort Lewis (16-4 / 13-4 RMAC) tonight. Tip off from Whalen Gymnasium in Durango, Colo., is set for 7:30 p.m.
UCCS opened the conference season with Fort Lewis on Nov. 30, and fell by three points, 72-69. The Mountain Lions had the ball on the final possession with 13 seconds remaining, but missed the game-tying three-pointer in the loss.
Derrick enters the game needing five free throws to tie for second in UCCS program records. He has 128 free throws and is second in the RMAC in free throws per game and gets to the free throw line more than any other student-athlete in the conference. Five more free throws would tie Academic All-America Patrick Hannaway's mark from the 2006-07 season. He needs 28 free throws to tie Hannaway's record from the 2007-08 season.
Fans can follow tonight's action through live stats from the Fort Lewis sports information office, live video streaming through America One Networks and live audio from UCCS Radio. Updates will also be available on the Mountain Lion twitter feed, @GoMountainLions.
