Four Score in Double Figures in Win at Chadron
CHADRON, Neb - Jordan Carter scored a season-high 18 points and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team (3-14 / 3-10 RMAC) used a strong second half for a 92-73 victory against Chadron State (1-16 / 1-12 RMAC) tonight in Armstrong Gymnasium. The Mountain Lions shot 55 percent and out-rebounded the Eagles 45-34.
Carter went nine-of-12 from the field in 17 minutes of action. Alex Koehler scored 12 points in his best offensive night since Dec. 1 and Joell Crawford finished with a season-high 11 points. Darius Pardner added another 16 points to reach double-digit points for the eighth time in the last nine game.
UCCS held an 11-point halftime lead, tied for the largest halftime advantage of the season, after scoring the final eight points of the half in the final 63 seconds. The Mountain Lions trailed for 12 seconds early in the game before an eight-point swing took UCCS to a 12-5 lead with 13:20 left in the half. The Eagles came within three points with 1:17 left in the period before the eight-point rally put the Mountain Lions ahead 41-30 at halftime.
UCCS opened the second half on an 11-5 run to take a 52-35 advantage with 16:44 left to play. The Mountain Lions maintained at least a 15-point lead for the rest of the night and led by as many as 24 points midway through the half.
Nolan Baker led the Mountain Lions with nine rebounds off the bench. Kyle Clark also matched his season-best with three blocked shots and has made eight blocked shots in the last three games. The UCCS defense held Chadron State to 32 percent from the field in the best defensive performance this season.
